At the TAKE D\u014dj\u014d, there are rules of etiquette that help you fit in with the group and move around the training hall properly.<\/p>

Entering the d\u014dj\u014d<\/b><\/p>

When crossing the threshold of the d\u014dj\u014d, we step in with our left foot and then bow toward the kamiza\u2014the place of honor located behind the instructor, marked with the calligraphy \u201cTSKSR.\u201d When leaving the d\u014dj\u014d, we first bow toward the kamiza, and then step over the threshold with our right foot.<\/span><\/p>

Place to gather<\/b><\/p>

When lining up for training, students stand in a single row, facing the instructor. The most advanced student takes the spot on the right. The others line up according to their ranks\u2014higher ranks closer to the right, lower ranks closer to the left. For those with the same rank, the order is determined first by the date the rank was earned, and then by the length of practice.<\/p>

Once everyone is in position, they assume the seiza posture, taking care to maintain a straight line. Place the sword or bokken on your left side, with the blade facing toward you. The tip of the hilt (kashira) should be close to your knees, but should not extend beyond them.<\/p>

Bows<\/b><\/p>

When entering the d\u014dj\u014d, we ask for a good practice, and when leaving, we thank each other for it. During the roll call, we bow to one another as a sign of mutual respect. When beginning an exercise with a partner, we ask for a good learning experience, and when it ends, we thank them for practicing together.<\/p>

Being late<\/b><\/p>

We arrive on time for class.<\/p>

If we\u2019re late for the gathering, we don\u2019t enter the hall; instead, we wait outside the door until it\u2019s over. If we arrive during the warm-up or the actual training session, we enter the hall, sit in the seiza position against the wall near the door, perform reishiki, and wait until the instructor allows us to join the group or gives further instructions.<\/p>

Program<\/b><\/p>

The instructor decides which kata are performed and taught during practice.<\/p>

Practice<\/b><\/p>

Practice should be free of competition. We practice, first and foremost, to improve ourselves and support the growth of others.<\/p>

Teaching<\/b><\/p>

Teaching Katori\u2014including giving instructions, conducting demonstrations, or passing on techniques\u2014is permitted only with the consent of one\u2019s own teacher.<\/p>

Outfit<\/b><\/p>

The required training uniform consists of white long pants, a white obi belt, and a navy blue (indigo) keikogi with the character \"TAKE\" on the back.<\/p>

Those who hold the 1st kyu rank may wear a hakama. Those who hold the 1st dan rank may wear a black belt.<\/p>

Weapon<\/b><\/p>

During training sessions, we use only training weapons (bokken, b\u014d, naginata, yari, kodachi) made of natural wood, kept in good condition, and not painted black. We store unused weapons in a designated area.<\/p>

Dueling<\/b><\/p>
