For beginners with Katori


March this year brings us good news. Spring is coming so the training population is increasing!
This year we are continuing our introductory workshops for beginners. If you would like to join us, please leave your email and we will send you information about the next introductory workshop. We are accepting people from the age of 15. Below is the schedule for the 2023/2024 school year:

  • Mondays, 8:15 - 9:45 p.m., 19 Lubomirskiego St. - Beginner group training
  • Tuesdays, 20:15 – 21:45, ul. Akacjowa 5 – Beginner group training
  • NEW: Wednesdays, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., Elementary School No. 80, housing estate na skarpie 8 - Beginner group training
  • Wednesdays, 8:00 p.m. – 9:15 p.m., ul. Akacjowa 5 – Training of the intermediate-advanced group
  • Wednesdays, 9:15 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., ul. Akacjowa 5 – Advanced group training
  • Thursdays, 18:30 – 20:00, ul. Smolensk 7 – Beginner group training

Introductory workshop - 16.03.2024


We invite all new enthusiasts who want to start their adventure with Katori Shinto-ryu to our dedicated introductory workshop!
Our introductory workshop is 3 hours devoted to explaining the basic aspects of training and kata, which will give you a much better start to practice. This is an opportunity to gain basic information and skills that will be invaluable during regular training.
Our priority is to provide you with solid foundations that will help you master the material necessary to practice the first form of kata in pairs.
We would also like to inform you that the next such workshop will not be held until June so take advantage now!

The workshop will be held at 5 Acacia Street See directions how to get there. Seminar will be lead by the Sensei Matthew Kuduk (3'Dan). You can read more about our instructors at this page.

Prior registration is required to participate in the workshops. If after the workshop you want to participate in regular training, additional registration will not be necessary. The number of places is limited due to the number of spare bokkens available. The order of registration is decisive. Late registration may require purchasing a bokken before the workshop begins.
Must be 15 years of age.

What to bring to the workshop:

  • sports outfit, i.e. long sweatpants, t-shirt
  • a bottle of water
  • we practice barefoot but flip flops can be useful to go from the locker room to the hall
  • if you have your kimono and bokken A wooden training sword, usually in the shape of a katana, less often a wakizashi or tantō. you can bring them
  • good mood :)

Program:

  • introduction to the Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto-ryu school
  • a brief history of the school and founder
  • presentation of the material and weapons used during training
  • basic cuts and thrusts
  • basic poses (kamae)
  • dojo etiquette and sword handling
  • the first kata (pair form) of the sword

The cost of participation is PLN 150.

The fee can be paid in cash on site before the start of classes or no later than 2 days before the workshop to the bank account:

New Training!

As you may have already noticed at the beginning of the newsletter, we are pleased to announce that we have finalized the possibility of introducing another training to the offer. This time the Workout will be located in the large 240 square meter room of Elementary School No. 80 on the estate „on the escarpment 8” The workout will be for the beginner group. For motorists, there are free parking spaces around the school. Trainings start tomorrow (06.03.2024) We cordially invite you!

 

Exam session 4-5 kyu - 19.03.2024.


We would like to inform you that on 19.03.2024 there will be an examination session for grades 4 and 5 kyu. The session will be held as part of the regular Tuesday training (20:15 - 21:45, 5 Acacia Street). You are cordially invited 🙂

Katori Shinto Ryu seminar with Sensei Ulf Rott (5’Dan) in Krakow September 2024


A Seminar with Sensei Ulf Rott in Krakow is being planned. The tentative date has been set for September. More details to come soon!

 

News from Berlin Seminar


We would like to proudly announce that during the examinations at the recent Seminar in Berlin conducted by Sensei Ulf Rott, TAKE Dojo Member Mateusz Bryla took the exam for 2’Dan which ended successfully. Our heartfelt congratulations!!!
