Introductory workshop - 14.09.2024

We welcome all new enthusiasts looking to get started in Katori Shinto-ryu to our dedicated introductory workshop! Our introductory workshop is 3.5 hours dedicated to explaining the basic aspects of training and kata, giving you a much better start to your practice. This is an opportunity to gain basic information and skills that will be invaluable during your regular training. Our priority is to provide you with a solid foundation to master the material necessary to practice your first form of kata in pairs. We would also like to inform you that the next workshop of this type will be held in about 2-3 months.

A Dojo TAKE Vademecum is provided for each workshop participant. That is, a booklet containing the most important information including: dojo etiquette, fighting positions, glossary of terms, curriculum, examination requirements and style history.

The workshop will be held at the Jagiellonian University's College of Physical Education and Sports, 26a Piastowska Street, Krakow. You can use the parking lot under the facility - at the gate, please specify that you are for classes 9-12 from the TAKE Association. See directions how to get there.

Seminar will be lead by the Sensei Mateusz Kuduk (3'Dan) and instructors of the school. You can read more about our instructors at this page.

Pre-registration is required to participate in the workshop. If you wish to participate in regular training after the workshop, additional registration will not be necessary. Seating is limited due to the number of spare bokken available. The order of registration is decisive. Late registration may require you to purchase a bokken before the workshop begins - information will be included in the form. A minimum age of 15 is required. To register, fill out the registration form at this link.

For people who train

Trip to Japan

Currently, a large part of the team is in Japan from where, in addition to nice photos, they will also bring us new information about Katori, straight from the source 🙂

Increase in Pass Fees

Unfortunately, we have to raise fees for passes - in short, each pass will become more expensive by PLN 10, and individual group lessons by PLN 5. Room prices, other costs, as well as inflation are forcing us to take this step. Last season we managed to keep the prices, but this season we already have to adjust them.
Important note: The new price list is effective from October for those who are already practicing. You can use the old prices by paying by bank transfer by September 10. In the web store, passes are now available at the new prices

New Discount for people with 1’Dan and paid annual fee

Starting in October, we are introducing a 20% discount on training for those with a degree of min. 1st dan and paid annual fee. The discount does not apply to seminars and in-store purchases (no change here - 10%).

Raise the threshold for joining the ADV group

We are raising the threshold for joining the ADV group from 1st kyu to 1st dan. For those who are already practicing in the ADV group but do not yet have 1st dan, you have until the end of 2024 to earn this degree. This applies to 5 people who meet the seniority requirements (min. 7 years of practice and 1 year since gaining 1st kyu). There will be an opportunity to take the exam in Krakow with Ulf or in December in SW. We can also conduct 1st dan exams on our own in Poland!

Changes in the INT group

The INT group will be geared more towards training with BO and Naginata. We want those with 1st kyu to have more time and space to practice Naginata techniques. This training will be conducted in a slightly different format - instead of a permanent Sensei, we will introduce rotating shifts every 2 months or so. In addition, we are trying to set the schedule at Acacia so that INT trainings will last 1.5 hours, just like the ADV group trainings. We will see soon if we can arrange this.
