FAQ - Introductory workshop in questions and answers
Organization of the workshop
Do I need to have my own sword / bokken?
No, we provide bokken (wooden swords) for all participants. If you have yours - you can bring it.
Does the workshop obligate me to anything?
No. The workshop is a form of trial training. After it, you can decide if you want to join regular classes.
What if I can't come on the specified date?
That's okay. Workshops are held regularly - leave an email and we'll let you know the next dates.
Is it only through workshops that you can join the group?
No. The alternative is 3 hours individual trainings, after which you can also join the beginner group.
At what age can you start?
The workshops and classes are for people from 15 years old upwards - there is no upper limit.
How to dress for the workshop?
All you need is comfortable sportswear (such as long pants and a t-shirt). Practice barefoot. Bring flip-flops to walk from the locker room to the hall. If you have a kimono or bokken - go ahead and bring it.
Training and safety
Can women train too?
Of course! More than 30% of our participants are women.
I have an injury (e.g. knees, spine) - can I train?
Depends on the type of injury - before enrollment write to us, we will advise individually.
Are the trainings safe?
Yes - we teach in the traditional way, with an emphasis on control, precision and safety. Injuries are very rare.
What are the activities like after the workshop?
Trainings are held regularly during the week - the exact schedule and location is provided on the website this page.
Do I need to be in good physical shape?
You don't have to. We tailor the workouts to the capabilities of the participants - what is important is regularity and commitment, not starting condition.
