For beginners with Katori

 

New Year's Katori training is an opportunity to look at your Katori practice in the previous year from a new perspective. It is an opportunity to symbolically cut off old habits. May our New Year's resolution be to keep growing and be willing to change those habits and absorb a new portion of knowledge and skills in their place 🙂 This year we are continuing the introductory workshop for beginners. If you would like to join us, please leave your email and we will send you information about the next introductory workshop. We are accepting people from the age of 15. Below is the schedule for the 2023/2024 school year:

  • Mondays, 8:15 - 9:45 p.m., 19 Lubomirskiego St. - Beginner group training
  • Tuesdays, 20:15 – 21:45, ul. Akacjowa 5 – Beginner group training
  • Wednesdays, 8:00 p.m. – 9:15 p.m., ul. Akacjowa 5 – Training of the intermediate-advanced group
  • Wednesdays, 9:15 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., ul. Akacjowa 5 – Advanced group training
  • Thursdays, 18:30 – 20:00, ul. Smolensk 7 – Beginner group training

Introductory workshop - 13.01.2024

 

We invite all new enthusiasts who want to start their adventure with Katori Shinto-ryu to our dedicated introductory workshop!
Our introductory workshop is 3 hours devoted to explaining the basic aspects of training and kata, which will give you a much better start to practice. This is an opportunity to gain basic information and skills that will be invaluable during regular training.
Our priority is to provide you with solid foundations that will help you master the material necessary to practice the first form of kata in pairs.
We would also like to inform you that the next such workshop will be held in March 2024 at the earliest.

The workshop will be held at 5 Acacia Street See directions how to get there. Seminar will be lead by the Sensei Matthew Kuduk (3'Dan). You can read more about our instructors at this page.

Prior registration is required to participate in the workshops. If after the workshop you want to participate in regular training, additional registration will not be necessary. The number of places is limited due to the number of spare bokkens available. The order of registration is decisive. Late registration may require purchasing a bokken before the workshop begins.
Must be 15 years of age.

What to bring to the workshop:

  • sports outfit, i.e. long sweatpants, t-shirt
  • a bottle of water
  • we practice barefoot but flip flops can be useful to go from the locker room to the hall
  • if you have your kimono and bokken A wooden training sword, usually in the shape of a katana, less often a wakizashi or tantō. you can bring them
  • good mood :)

Program:

  • introduction to the Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto-ryu school
  • a brief history of the school and founder
  • presentation of the material and weapons used during training
  • basic cuts and thrusts
  • basic poses (kamae)
  • dojo etiquette and sword handling
  • the first kata (pair form) of the sword

The cost of participation is PLN 150.

The fee can be paid in cash on site before the start of classes or no later than 2 days before the workshop to the bank account:

For people who train

 

Seminars in Warsaw with Sensei Loris Petris ( 6th Dan Katori Shinto Ryu) and Daniel Dubreuil (7th Dan Katori Shinto Ryu and Aikibudo).

Sensei Rafal from Warsaw has an idea for two seminars this year. The first is to be held on 09-11 Feb. 2024. in Warsaw. It will be led by Sensei Daniel Dubreuil (7dan Katori and Aikibudo) with the option of Aikibudo training on Friday evening. The second Seminar will be held May 24-26, 2024 in Warsaw and will be led by Sensei Loris Petris (6 Dan Katori Shinto Ryu) Both Seminars will oscillate in price at 350zl/80€ for the whole Seminar or 200zl/45€ for 1 day. Participants who attend both seminars will receive a 10% discount on the value of each seminar, refundable upon payment for the second seminar.

Katori Shinto Ryu winter camp at Dojo Old Village 06 - 08.12.2024
